Epcot Celebrates 35 Years!

On October 1, 1982, Epcot opened as the second park in Disney World.  To celebrate the 35th anniversary, Walt Disney World has a special ceremony at 10:01 a.m. at Fountain Stage, which included speeches from George A. Kalogridis, president of Walt Disney World Resort and entertainment from Voices of Liberty and Mariachi Cobre.

The past and future were celebrated as Kalogridis promised that"the exciting plans we have on the horizon will honor Epcot’s rich legacy of creativity and innovation while continuing to exceed the expectations of our guests, for decades to come."

Special merchandise was available including "I Was There" memorabilia and Epcot 35th Anniversary logo merchandise which will be available in select merchandise locations at the park, such as Mouse Gear and even online on the Shop Disney Parks app.

The night ended with a special presentation of Illuminations which included music from the past and special pyrotechnics.
