Walt Disney World has released a statement following their reopening plan presentation at the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force meeting this morning where they announced that an advanced reservation will be needed in order to enter the Disney theme parks. Although Disney World will begin a phased reopening starting with Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom on July 11 and Epcot and Hollywood Studios on July 15 the theme park capacity will be significantly limited.
In order to limit the guest capacity, Disney World has announced that they will manage attendance through "a new theme park reservation system that will require all guests to obtain a reservation for park entry in advance."
Walt Disney World also stated that they are temporarily pausing new ticket sales and hotel reservations so they can "focus on guests with existing tickets and reservations." Disney Vacation Club members can still make new reservations.
Existing ticket holders and Annual Passholders will be able to make reservation requests in phases before new tickets are sold. Disney will be providing more information and reaching out to these guests soon to provide additional details.
Disney will resume new ticket sales and hotel reservations after that period of time.
Shanghai Disneyland also introduced and is currently implementing an advanced reservation system. Theme park reservations will be limited due to attendance limitations and will be subject to availability.
