During the D23 Fantastic Worlds Celebration today we learned new details about the EPCOT transformation including the new nighttime spectacular, the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind attraction, the new entrance fountain, and more.
During the EPCOT-The Magic of Possibility, Melissa Valiquette, VP of EPCOT, and Zach Riddley, Imagineering Portfolio Executive - Walt Disney World Resort, we learned that work on "Harmonious," the new nighttime spectacular coming to World Showcase lagoon, continues with the construction of the gigantic platforms which should be heading into the lagoon to begin testing very soon, according to Zach Riddley. We also learned that the platforms will be permanent and the ambient look during the day will feature water fountains situated along world showcase.
The pylon and fountain found near Spaceship Earth is scheduled to debut later this year. The new fountains will also feature a complete new lighting package that will light up the fountains at night.
Speaking of lighting, Spaceship Earth's exterior is also receiving an upgrade in lighting. Zach says the new lighting will "signify the optimism, hope and collaboration across culture and time and really create a unique moment."
The Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind attraction has hit a significant milestone in their construction with the push/pull portion of the project phase where the ride vehicles are installed on the ride track.
We always get excited to hear more about the EPCOT transformation and can't wait to learn more!
